I've tried to give these awards to blogs I enjoy reading, with either a lot or few followers without discrimination. I also wanted to put a light on really great blogs but with less followers and that deserve much more followers because they do a nice job.

I've also received the stylish blog award from lacqueredlover. Thank you so much. That's so sweet from you.

Another award from the so kind Kayono. Thank you so much!

So I will give this award back to

Won't you entertain me?

Hello~

As some other bloggers, I've been contacted by  people at Nail de Royale to provide a link to their online shop on my blog. And in order to thank me for that, they proposed to send me some samples.
I've just received my package from them. I'll be featuring in this post as well in my next post some of their products.

I was currently wearing OPI Let Me Entertain You, a pretty and vibrant shimmery fuchsia that is part of the Burlesque Collection (Holiday 2010). It has a lovely glass fleck finish and a lot of pink sparkles in it.

Let Me Entertain You (OPI), 3 coats, with flash

Then I added some silver stripes and 3 stars on the ring finger. The stars are green-lime and reflects the light so much. In my picture, they look a bit dull but you've got to know they look more sparkly irl.

Finally, I added some very fine pink-purple glitters in between the stripes.
So I painted in between the stripes with my top coat and then, I dipped a brush into the glitters and applied them onto the nails, where I painted with the top coat beforehand. The top coat here serves as glue.
If you put some glitters outside the stripes, you can wipe them off with a clean brush. As you don't have any  wet top coat there, the glitters will not stick to your nails and you will be able to take them off easily.

So here is the final result.

I hope you'll like it.
Have a nice Friday~!

Oh...And here is a picture of the nail art material I used for this mani.

Green stars, really fine purple glitters, silver stripes, and 2 brushes.

Catrice Out of Space collection - swatches and review

Hi there~

I wanna fly into the space today and Catrice "Out of Space collection" is just too perfect for that.
This is a Limited Edition (Summer 2011) that consists of 4 nail polishes. Three of them are dark green:
  • a very dark shimmery green, called Moonlight Express,
  • a lighter teal peacock green, Houston’s Favorite,
  • a dark green with a semi matte finish (Suede finish), Beam Me Scotty!
and the 4th polish, My Milkyway, is a "colour changing top coat" according to Catrice.

Index:  Moonlight Express, 2 coats
Middle finger:  Houston’s Favorite, 2 coats
Ring finger: Beam Me Scotty!, 2 coats
Pinkie: Beam Me Scotty! with top coat, 2 coats

Index:  Moonlight Express, 2 coats
Middle finger:  Houston’s Favorite, 2 coats
Ring finger: Beam Me Scotty!, 2 coats
Pinkie: Beam Me Scotty! with top coat, 2 coats
all with 1 thin coat of My Milkyway

I think it's better to add only one really thin coat of My Milkyway otherwise your nails would look too white and the underneath color would be lost under My Milkyway. On the contrary, a thin coat will give some sparkles (blue, white, silver and pink) to your nails but you will still be able to see the polish you have underneath.

Houston’s Favorite, is a very shimmery teal-green polish. It reminds me of a peacock. Application was excellent and very easy, it's already opaque in 1 coat but I did 2 to even it out. It also works for stamping.

As you can see on the above pictures, My Milkyway add some shimmer and sparkle to the polish.

Moonlight Express, 2 coats, without top coat

Moonlight Express is a very dark green with some pretty shimmer in it. Application was also excellent. It was also opaque in 1 coat but I used 2 to even it out.
I added a closeup view of Moonlight Express so that you can see the green in this dark shade better. You can also see it's a shimmery polish. Very pretty dark polish.

I've already reviewed Beam Me Scotty! here. So please, click on the link for a full review of this polish.

Final verdict: I think Catrice did a very good job with this collection. It's original and very interesting. The shades are really pretty, they are dark but with a lot of shimmer which prevents them from being boring. They represents the mysterious space very well. I was really surprised with Beam Me Scotty! because the semi matte finish is just gorgeous. This was a very nice surprise. I don't wear black polishes often but Moonlight Express sets itself apart because it's really glossy and sparkly. Houston's Favorite is as a very nice peacock colored polish. Finally, My Milkyway is much better than I tought it would. When I looked at the bottle, I thought it would be too opaque but when applied in thin coats, it gives extra shimmer to the underneath polish and thus creates a nice galaxy mani.
Application was really good for all the polishes of this collection and they were nicely opaque.

Which one is your favorite? Do you like wearing dark polishes?

Purple glitter comparison

This is a reader request.

So here I will prensent 3 purple giltters from Essence cosmetics.
  • The first one is called "Louise" and is part of the previous Essence Twins Collection. This is a now retired shade. Her twin is Thelma, a very dark plum purple.
  • The second one is "It's purplicious" from the Essence Nail Art Special Effect! Topper.
  • And finally the third one is "Troy" also from the Essence Twins Collection but is still available.
So let's take a look at the picture to see how different they are.

One coat of the mentioned glitter polishes over Lucky in Lilac (Catrice).

I can't tell the difference between Louise and It's purplicious. They look exactly identical on the nails. What a good news if you missed Louise (retired now). You can grab It's purplicious instead.
They are both constituated of very fine purple glitters in a clear base with some larger light reflecting purple squares.

Troy is quite different. It has very fine purple and blue glitters and it's much more densly packed

I added a second layer of glitters to see if you could start seeing a difference between Louise and It's purplicious.

Two coats of the mentioned glitter polishes over Lucky in Lilac (Catrice).

So definitively Louise and It's purplicious are dupe. You can also see how dense Troy is. I haven't tried but with 3 coats, you may reach full opacitiy for Troy.

And I couldn't resist mattifying the glitters with Icing Matte About You.

And here is Lucky in Lilac (Catrice) alone.

Acrylic Gel Nails + Random Nails

Hi guys, it's just now that I got the chance to post. I have lots of nail art I made these past few weeks.. Btw, have you noticed in my previous post "Phoebe's Nailart Contest Entries" that my nails are long again? Yes it is.. That is because I made "DIY" nails.. This is the first time I tried using acrylic gel nails. I used nail tip extension, acrylic powder, gel etc.. I love the outcome, they seem so real... You won't even notice that they're artificial.. How about you girls? Have you tried acrylic nails? Gel nails? Which of the two do you think is more durable? Acrylic or gel nails?

Blue Hydrangea by Nubar

Hi lovelies~

Today I'll introduce you to another polish from the Nubar Spring Garden Collection (2011) and that I got from the lovely people at http://www.beautyshed.co.uk
On Tuesday, I reviewed Honeysuckle from this same collection. For more details on the collection and swatches of Honeysuckle, click here.

The sky is super dark and grey here, so in order to brighten up my day, I applied a gorgeous sky blue polish called Blue Hydrangea.

Blue Hydrangea (Nubar), 2 coats, with top coat, natural light

You can click on the photo to enlarge it and see the silvery white shimmer which gives a pretty pearl finish.

Blue Hydrangea (Nubar), 2 coats, with top coat, artificial light

Blue Hydrangea is a light sky blue polish with some silvery white shimmer in it. The shimmer creates a nice pearl finish. But don't be afraid, pearl here doesn't mean application is tricky. On the contrary, application was super easy, without any brush strokes visible. Blue Hydrangea is quite opaque, you will need 2 coats for full coverage and a nice even look.

I also tried to stamp with Honeysuckle (Nubar) I presented last time. And I was very pleased to discover Honeysuckle works perfectly well for stamping ;D
I used BM image plate 16.

Final verdict: Blue Hydrangea is a must-have for blue lovers. The color is really pretty, very spring-like but also perfect for summer or to brighten up a dull day. What makes this polish special is the pearl finish. A baby blue with a pearl finish is totally unique to my stash. I also love how easy it is to apply it. It dries really quickly. So that you don't need 1 hour to achieve this mani.

Nubar nail polishes can be bought at http://www.beautyshed.co.uk or http://www.bynubar.com.
