Unicorn Puke: remake

Hello~

As promized here is my own version of the famous Unicorn Puke by Cult Nails.
I don't know if you were lucky enough to get Cult Nails - Unicorn Puke, but I wasn't. Even the newer version (just the name change not the polish itself) called Clairvoyant was already sold out when I wanted to order it. It should however be back in stock sooner or later.
If you don't know what I'm talking about and what is Unicorn Puke, you can view Rie's swatches on her blog, Nails and Noms.
Basically, it's a purple jelly base polish with a lot (!) of different colors flakies.

So here is what I came up with.

In fact, at the beginning I just wanted to play with flakies and layer different colors of them to give the mani more depth. And then, I realized it was not so far from Unicorn Puke.

Layering order:
  • (A white creme polish - 1 coat)
  • Lancelot (A-England) - 1 coat: this is a blackened red almost black
  • I Lily Love You (OPI) - 1 coat: very sheer pink jelly packed with different sizes and colors of glitters and crushed flakes
  • Nfu Oh 49 - 1 coat: pinky orange flakies
  • Nfu Oh 54 - 1 coat: aqua flakies
  • I Juggle...Men (OPI) - 1 coat: a clear polish with a very fine blue, purple and pink microglitters.
You don't need the white base! I just used it here because I used my previous mani  (you can view it here; it was a review of Lancelot and a combo Lancelot - I Lily Love You) to do this unicorn puke mani. I used this white base yesterday to show the red in Lancelot (otherwise you see it as black). But Lancelot is very opaque by itself so this step is completely unnecessary.

Concerning flakies, there are new polishes that contain different colors of flakies, for example Lambada by Hits Speciallitá whose flakies are green and orange. You can see swatches here. Ludurana has also different color flakies, like the one called Arco-íris. It contains blue, green, and orange flakies. You can see swatches here. These flakies can be puchased at Llarowe.

Purchase info for this mani:
A-England polishes can be purchased from A-England website. It is interesting to note that shipping worldwide is free. You can visit A-England on Facebook.

HITS new releases: Multichromes and Powerpuff girls collection!

Hello~

This is a quick post because I don't have much time...sorry. But I wanted to share this info with you, guys!

HITS Speciallità, the famous Brazilian brand, will release a new line of multichrome polishes!

Their names: Artsy, Chameleon, Cool, Cutie Pie, Daring, Dreamer, Trendy, and Unconventional.

I've no idea yet how they compare to Ozotic or Ludurana polishes so I'm looking forward to see some swatches of them!

You can eith buy them one by one or they are also sold in a cute pack of 4 polishes. So there are 2 different packs.

And HITS will also release a Powerpuff girls collection.
Doce de leite, Girl Power, Florzinha, Lovely, Pretty, Lindinha, Docinho, Powerful, Elemento X.

Awww...how cute is that?
They will be on the Brazilian market from December 2nd.

Llarowe should get Powerpuff girls collection and the Mari Moon (multichrome) polishes soon. They will have to pass her quality test and if they do, they will be sold on her site! What great news!

Sources: Speciallità's FB page, 9ml blog. If you don't know 9ml and you are interested in Brazilian polishes, I recommand visit her site because it's great!

Do you lily love Lancelot?

Hello dear reader~

Today I want to present you the most blackened red I've ever seen. It's Lancelot from The Mythicals collection of A-England polishes.

When you apply it, you cleary see it's a very dark red and not a black polish while when it's on your nails, it looks almost pure black.
So in order to show you that it's indeed a very dark red, I did a first coat of white polish and then applied Lancelot randomly.
So here is what Lancelot (one thin coat) looks over white.

One coat of Lancelot (A-England) over white.

As you can see, with 1 coat, you are already very opaque. So on my ring finger I just slightly touched the surface of the nail with the brush (with Lancelot on the brush :D ), to give a pattern and show the red out of Lancelot. This is a cool bloody look for halloween or if you plan to watch a horror movie with your friends :p

Then here is what Lancelot looks when I've finished my mani. I mean, I just covered the ring finger properly...
so it's still layered over white.

Finally, I felt in a flakies mood, so I added one coat of OPI I Lily Love You on top.

OPI I Lily Love You over A-England Lancelot.

I love the overall look of this  mani. It reminds me of the pictures we could get from Hubble! lol
As you can see, I Lily Love You has some small saqure glitters of different colors and larger irregular shapes. I really love this polish!

Final verdict: Lancelot is sincerely the blackest red I've ever seen or maybe it's rather a black polish with a hint of red. This red touch gives Lancelot a dramatic and mysterious look and if you love dark polishes, I'm pretty sure you will be happy with it. Application was great, you only need one coat to get full opacity. You can also do a lot of funny layering manicures with it because black or very dark polishes tend to enhance the contrast between flakies or other type of polish effects and the base color.

PS If you follow me on FB, you may have heard I wanted to show a Unicorn puke combo I did! This mani is the base for this combo so I had to show you this before. The Unicorn puke mani will come in my next post. So stay tuned! :D

Ozotic Mish Mash collection: Swatches, comparison and review!

Hello~

As promised here is a comparison post between the 4 different polishes from the new Ozotic Mish Mash collection!

I already swatches every polish separately and as some polishes are close to each other, a direct comparison is an intesreting way to distinguish them, I believe.
If you missed the different reviews, you can click on the links below.
  • Ozotic 531: shifts from rusty copper to gold, to purple, and even to green at certain angles + holo!
  • Ozotic 532: shift from teal to blue-silvery blue and to purple + holo!
  • Ozotic 533: shifts from silvery blue, to a warmer blue to purple and green + holo!
  • Ozotic 534: shifts from royal blue to royal purple and can also take some pink, lilac and copper shades+ holo!
All polishes in this collection are meant to be layered over a base color because they are sheer! You cannot achieve full opacity even if you apply several coats. For the following swatches, I used 2 coats of A-England Lancelot and then 2 coats of Ozotic.

L-R: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.

L-R: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.

Let's go to the swatches!

L-R: 531, 532, 533, and 534.
Here you can see that #531 and #534 are unique while #532 and #533 are quite similar.

L-R: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.

Down-up: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.
In the upper picture, you can see the difference between all the polishes IMO. #532 and #533 are still really close but you can see a small difference between them in terms of blue tones.

Down-up: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.

Down-up: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.
Here also you can distinguish (not easly, I admit) #532 and #533. #533 has a more prononced teal/green part than #533. #533 is more of a pure blue polish. But again, this is rather subtle.

L-R: Ozotic 531, 532, 533, 534.

In the following picture, I focussed on #532, #533, and #534. To simplify, #532 is has more teal undertones, #533 blue , while #534 purple.

If you go up in the picture: 532, 533, and 534.

If you go up in the picture: 532, 533.

Final verdict: That's a great collection since most of polish addicts love multichrome and holographic polishes. So here you have both effects in a single polish. That's a brilliant idea! Don't forget that all these polishes are sheer and thus meant to be layered over a base color. #531 and #534 are the most unique polishes because they really have their own color shift. #532 and #533 are really close and it's quite difficult (or even nearly impossible) to distinguish them. I think this is the only drawback of this collection. So unless you're a total polish addict, I wouldn't recommand buying #532 and #533 at the same time. If you have one of them, it's enought IMO. However, this collection is really a winning collex because the polishes are really original and so much fun! You've got a really stong holographic effect and moreover, your polish keep changing colors! Amazing!

A-England: Guinevere

Hello~

Today I have a  dusty lilac to show you. It's a A-England polish called Guinevere.

Guinevere is described by A-England as a "beautiful elegant antique pale mauve, the newest neutral shade, already a classic".

This dusty lilac shade reminded me of OPI Planks A Lot from their Pirates of the Caribbean collection (spring 2011). In order to see the difference, I took a bottle shot of Planks A Lot and Guinevere next to each other. As you can see, Guinevere has more grey undertones and is dustier than Planks A Lot.

Comparison: OPI - Planks A Lot vs A-England - Guinevere.

Final verdict: Once again, I'm really pleased with A-England polishes. Guinevere is really well pigmented and is opaque with only one thick coat. However, here for the pictures sake, I did 2 coats. I really appreciate this subtle dusty lavender. It's really work appropriate because it's not the in-your-face type of polish. It's very elegant, subtle and has a kind of old fashion class. When I say "old fashion", it has a positive meaning. I don't know why but I think I could see this polish worn by a lady in a Sherlock Holmes series lol.

A-England: King Arthur

Hello~

Here I am again with another A-England polish! This is King Arthur!

King Arthur is described by A-England as "tungsten, steel gray with subtle diamond shimmer".

You can see here the subtle shimmer in King Arthur!

Final vedict: Once again, I'm thrilled by the gorgeousness of A-England polishes. King Arthur is a stunning grey-silver polish but not the kind of cold silver that we are normally used to. It's a warm dark grey which really reminds me of a knight armor, i.e. really strong and powerful. Moreover, there is a special shimmer in it, a pink, blue and green shimmer! You can see it on the last picture. It's not so obvious, so don't expect to see much pink/blue/green on your nails but I think it gives a nice and subtle touch to the grey base.
Application was also great. I used 2 coats here as the polish is naturally quite opaque.
Don't forget there is currently a promotion on King Arthur until 25th November.

A-England: Iseult

Hello~

I hope you're all doing well!
Today I have another A-England polish to you. This is Iseult!

Iseult is part of A-England "The Mythicals" collection. It is described by A-England as "delicate romantic pink with opalescent pearly reflection".

Final verdict: Wow, I think Iseult has climbed very high in my top 10 polishes. I don't know if it's the same for you, but I really enjoy soft shades from time to time to take a "rest" from crazy colors. Iseult is quite subtle yet very pretty due to its silver shimmer and nice texture that sets it apart from other soft shades. It looks really delicate and classy. I think I will wear this polish a lot. It will become my classic polish! Here I used 3 coats. Application was flawless.

A-England: Avalon

Hello~

Today I have a special polish to show you, this is my first A-England and it is called Avalon! A few days ago, Adina Bodana, the genius creator of A-England polishes contacted me to ask me if I wanted to review some of her polishes. How could I say no? :D I've heard so many praises about A-England polishes that I was really curious and excited to try them. Moreover, I saw some amazing swatches on the net and was craving for Avalon!

Avalon is described as "incandescent regal and royal purple".

Here you can see the blackened purple on the nail edges.

Here you can see on the upper part of the nails the red-purple and the blue-purple on the lower part.

Final verdict: Avalon is totally unique to  my stash in several ways. First, I've never seen such a vibrant and deep purple. Secondly, it has this amazing effect of almost black nail edges combined with a glowing in the middle touch. I had already seen that for red polishes but never for purple! And thirdly, it has some duochrome properties. Somtimes, you can see it like a blue-purple while in the sun or under stronger lights, its redder side because more apparent. At certain angles, you can see both (cf on of the above pictures). I suppose this is due to the blue and fluchsia microshimmer of the polish (the little blue and fuchsia dots in the larger pictures).
Application was great. I used 2 coats because it is well  pigemented. It's aldready shiny on its own but a top coat is always welcome.

Ozotic Mish Mash collection: #533

Hello~

Here is the last polish of Ozotic Mish Mash Collection I have to show you, it's #533. I aldready reviewed #531, #532, and #534. If you missed them, click on their names.

#533 is a silvery blue that shifts to purple and greeen. Moreover, it's a linear holo!

Strong linear silvery blue holo!

Purple holo!

Yay~multichrome!!

Final verdict: As all the other polishes from Ozotic Mish Mash collection, #533 is a linear holo with  a lovely multichrome touch. #533 shifts from silvery blue, to a warmer blue to purple and green.
In these pictures, I used 2 coats over OPI Road House Blue (a dark navy blue). It's a rather sheer polish so you have to layer it over a base color. Application was flawless and the brush is great (roughly the same size as OPI brush). I love this polish because it's really special and fun. You've got he mesmerizing linear holo part and the breathtaking multichrome part.

With #533, I've finished reviewing the 4 polishes of the Mish Mash collection. I think #532 and #533 are a little similar...So I guess it would be useful to do a comparison, like swatching the 4 polishes on the same hand at the same sime. Would you like it?
