World Diabetes Day

Hello!

November is diabetes awareness month and the 14th of November is considered as the World Diabetes Day. To support people suffering from the disease, some friends and I decide to wear a blue manicure on this special day since blue is the color that symbolize diabetes awareness. I posted this information on my FB page and a lot of people found the idea nice and agreed to wear blue today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who are supporting diabetic people!
For more information, you can have a look at the international diabetes federation web page here.

I chose to wear China Glaze Electric Beat that I received from the lovely Alaina of The Brrrds Nest as a base color. This polish is a one coater with a fantastic formula. It's very easy to apply. And I topped it with 1-1/2 coat of Lynnderella The Bride Turned Blue.
According to Lynnderella, The Bride Turned Blue is a new version of The Bride of Franken and contains electric blue multi-sized glitter (like the flaky glitter from Maybelline Colorama Lights of Lilac) with holographic rainbow dust, pink and blue sparks in a sheer periwinkle base. This polish is amazingly gorgeous! It's a bit difficult to show on pictures all its depth and awesomeness. It would be easier to see in over a darker color. Nevertheless, it looks amazing in real life! Some glitters look a bit yellow on my pictures. They are not yellow but iridescent. They somehow turn yellow when photographed.

Lynnderella polishes can be purchased from Lynnderella store on ebay. They are sold only within the USA so if you're living elsewhere, you'll need a friend in the US who can help you getting them. Thank you so much, Crystal <3

Here are pictures friends of mine wanted to share. They don't have a blog but also wanted to also be part of it! thank you, ladies <3

Here is what Red said about her manicure: "Girly Bits Roger That with Smurf Dance accent nail. Caught some sun today, which really played up the amazing holo in Roger That, and the stunning sparkly goodness of Smurf Dance". Both polishes are from Girly Bits. Look at that holo, it's mesmerizing! and Smurf Dance is so sparkly!
Thank you so much for sharing your picture, Red! Girly Bits can be purchased directly from Girly Bits, from Llarowe, or Harlow & Co.

And here is Bea's manicure. It's Anna Sui 110! What a lovely polish! and I'm officially fan of Bea's nails! Thank you for the share!

Lynn's Nosegay

Hello!!

I have a gorgeous Lynnderella polish to show! It's Nosegay from Lovely is as Lovely Does collection. I won't talk too much about it and let the pictures do the show.

Bootle shot.

Final verdict: Oh my! I love Lynnderella Nosegay much more than I thought I would. Of course, I thought it would pretty but I just loved it so much once it was on my nails. I'm sure I'll wear this combo again and again and it's officially become my 2nd favorite Lynnderella, just behind Connect The Dots. Nosegay is a milky base polish packed with a lot of different purple glitters. It has a lot of small and medium square glitters plus some hex in different sizes. The glitters laid flat on the nails and were very smooth. Moreover, there is a very pretty shimmer in this polish, which makes it even more mysterious and gorgeous! I used here 2 coats of Nosegay followed by 2 coats of top coat.

My base color is an Astor (number 134) polish from their Spring 2012 collection. It's a pretty lavender cream. I used 2 coats here and application was easy and nice, totally different from the other Astor from this collection I tried (picture here).

Snow Angel

Hello!!

Snow Angel by Lynnderella is problably one of the polishes I wanted the most when I first saw swatches of it! So I was super happy when I got it!

I layered it over 3 coats OPI Don't Touch My Tutu!, a dreamy white jelly.

Final verdict: The name of this polish is just so perfect. It looks so etheral, it could have been made in heaven. In another way, it also looks like some snow that is falling on your nails. It's a very delicate and sophisticated polish in my opinion. There are tones of glitters but it still look elegant because the glitters are not the in-your-face type of glitters. Here I perhaps overdid it because I used 3 coats of Snow Angel. I kept adding and adding glitters because I was so fascinated by them lol I think 1 thick coat or 2 thinner coats would have done the job as well! As with most Lynnderella, the formula was a real dream and the polish was easy to apply.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Snow Angel is a milky base (so it's not a clear base) packed with small and medium hexagonal, and medium squre glitters.

Star Trinkets - polish earrings

Hello!!
I have a gorgeous nail polish related item to show you today. They are polish earrings! I think it's so sophisticated ans smart to wear coordinate nail polish and earrings, isn't it?

I received these pretty earrings from Star Trinkets. She has recently opened an etsy shop and sells different sorts of nail polish jewellery and also her own line of polishes.
What I like about it is that you can custom your earrings, keychains, bobby pins, pendants and so on with your favorite polish.
I chose dangling earrings with cute flower charms and Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings for the polish.

aww...I just love them so much!! I also have Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings and I cannot wait to wear them together!
The earrings are of very good quality. They came in a small velvet purse, were stuck on a earring support, and very well wrapped to avoid any damage during shipping. The shop is located in Singapore by the way. These earrings cost  USD 13.50 a pair.

International shipping is charged at USD 2 for the first item, and USD 0.50 for each subsequent item. Shipping within Singapore is free.

I also want to leave some words about Susan, the lovely and nice woman behind Star Trinkets.

First, a bit about me and nail polish. Before March 2011, I used nail polish on an irregular basis. Sometime in March 2011, I suddenly develop a huge passion for it. I've shared on my blog that a huge reason for that was increased work stress and I needed a distraction. Somehow, nail polish fulfilled that need.
Anyway, that interest and passion grew so quickly that I decided to start my own blog around July 2011. My nail polish blog, The Subtle Shimmer, is a small and humble one, but the best part of it has been getting to know lots of great people through it! Sometime in late 2011, I came across nail polish jewellery and accessories, and my interest got piqued right away! It called to the crafter and polish lover in me! That happened at a time when I was contemplating a break from my job (I was a schoolteacher for ten years! I taught older teens, about the equivalent of high school.).

That's when I decided I would take that hiatus and give entrepreneurship a go by making and selling jewellery and other accessories made with nail polish. While that's not likely to be as financially viable as teaching is, at least in the short run, I want to pursue this dream and passion, and see where it takes me.

My Jewllery & Accessories
I do notice more people making nail polish rings and earstuds for sale recently. As such, I decided to do something a little different by making bracelets and dangling earrings as well. These have more of a design element than using only ready-made settings. I do have the latter settings as well because they are beautiful too.
Currently, I have a rather wide range of settings. Other than the earrings, bracelets, rings, and earstuds mentioned, I also have pendants and chains, bobby pins, keychains, cufflinks, and a bag/purse hanger.

I use a water-resistant coating to protect the nail polish. There are some sellers who only use a top coat, but it's my personal belief that is insufficient protection. I then use a waterproof glue to attach the glass cabochon (bead / marble) to the setting. I let the pieces set and cure for at least two days before I send them to customers.

About Star Trinkets
I wanted to distinguish between my nail polish blog and my creations / business, so I came up with a new name. I decided on Star Trinkets as I'm intrigued by the stars, both for their beauty and the secrets they seem to hold. "Trinkets" is an apt term for the little things I make, and which I intend to make in future. In addition, the intials ST are the same as my own initials (Susan Toh).

My Online Prsence
I do customised pieces. Customers can browse the available settings and nail lacquers on my blog.

They can order via email and I will send them a Paypal invoice once they've confirmed their orders. I do need customers to make payment before I start work on their orders. All listed prices are final prices, and customers do not need to worry if there'll be additional Paypal fees.

I've also just started an Etsy store, where I'll be selling ready-made pieces. It is also possible to request for customised pieces via my Etsy store, as well as purchase and pay through Etsy.

I ship internationally via airmail. I ship from Singapore and I do charge shipping separately, as stated earlier.

The Glittering Crowd

Hello~

I have a gorgeous Lynnderella polish to show you today! It's the Glittering Crowd! I was actually super lucky because I won this polish!! It was a special day at Llarowe when every customer that was the 10th person to order would win a free polish. At that time it was "a little" less difficult to get Lynnderella polishes and you could even chose a Lynnderella polish as your prize.

For all the pictures, I used 1 coat of Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd over 3 coats of esence Banana Joe. You can see pictures of Banana Joe here.

1 coat of Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd over 3 coats of essence Banana Joe.

Sorry on the above picture you can actually see some flakies at the left bottom of the picture (not very easy to see, I admit...). First I wanted to use Picture Polish Festival over essence Banana Joe but then, I remembered of that pretty Lynnderella and thought it could look great over this banana yellow polish. So I just had time to touch lightly a single nail with Festival before I changed my mind and took The Glittering Crowd.

I wanted to do just an accent nail with The Glittering Crowd first but the glitters are so special and there are so many different of them, I then decided to apply it on all my nails!

Final verdict: I just wanted to try this combo while I was swatching the essence Fruity collection, but I loved it so much, I couldn't take it off and kept it for a few days! The Glittering Crowd is an awesome polish. If you like glitters, this is a must-have, I believe. Lynnderella said this polish is made of more than a hundred different glitters!! There are so many different sizes, shapes, and colors, this is just amazing. And what I like more than everything is that, despite there are so many different glitters, they look well organized and so pretty together! I was really impressed and love it even much more than I thought I would! Here I used a rather thin coat of polish over my base color because I didn't want the glitters to cover the base color too much.

Purchase info
Lynnderella polishes can be purchased from Llarowe. This is the US stockist for Glitter Gal, Ozotic, Picture Polish, A-England, Hits, Ludurana, and Lynnderella polishes, awesome nail polishes brands. They sell internationally and have an awesome customer service. You can visit Llarowe on Facebook. The Glittering Crowd is sadly a discontinued shade now. It will not be produced any more due to the difficulty in getting all the different glitters to make it.

Connect the...hearts?

Hello!

I am happy to show you a mani I did just after Valentine's day.
/!\ This is not the true Lynnderella "Connect the hearts"!! I haven't seen any swatches from this super limited edition yet. However it's supposed to be like the regular Connect the Dots but with some hearts inside.
To see my review of Connect the Dots, click here.

I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Frankly I Don't Give A-Dam from the Garden of Good & Evil collection (Fall 2011). It's a grey creme. To me, it seems a "true" grey creme because I couldn't see any green, blue or brown in it. I have the mini version of it but the application was great. I really love this polish :D

Then I used 1 coat of Lynnderella Connect the Dots and added some heart shape glitters that I found in a craft store. Finally, I used 2 coats of top coat.
