Ulta3 Jade

The story.

I had removed my nail polish the night before but it got to late for me to paint them. The following morning I headed out to the shops with *gasp* naked nails. I finished at the shops and came home to drop off some shopping and decided I couldn't handle it any longer. I gave in and decided to paint my nails  >.<

I used Sally Hansen Triple Strong for my base coat follower by 2 coats of Jade. Although Jade is quite frosty, I found that as long as I kept my hand steady I easily got nice straight lines so the brush-strokes weren't terrible. Jade applied very smoothly, so this Ulta3 was a hit :) Since I was heading back to the shops soon I used OPI RapiDry Top Coat to finish my manicure. I did this mani in about 15 minutes which is quite an achievement for me!

Please excuse any mess as I took these photos before I headed out again :(

This is such a gorgeous colour! I swear it's like it glows! All I have to say is that I love this!

Ulta3 Cocoa

I was changing my nail colour and wanted to match it to a gorgeous dress I was wearing. So that's how I came to choose Ulta3 Cocoa from the Metallic Crush collection. I've shown you swatches of this colour and I loved the gorgeous metallic brown then and I love it now!

I applied a base coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener. This base coat disagrees with several of my polishes and Cocoa was no exception >.< I applied two coats because the first coat did the same 'balding' that I've experienced with other polishes using this base coat. I find Cocoa easy to apply just keep the brush straight! I know that others don't like this collection because they find them too frosty, showing all the brush strokes, but I love them! I finished it off with a coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat.

So onto the pretty pictures!

Then the following morning I took these.

Ulta3 Cocoa in Natural Light

Cocoa is such a gorgeous reddish brown metallic! This colour matched my dress perfectly. The thing I loved most was how quickly it dried between layers since it was rather late at night when I finally got around to painting my nails!

HazeGlaze Elphaba

Hello!!

Do you remember the HazeGlaze polishes I showed you in a previous  post? If you don't, you can see them here.
Today, I have some swatches of Elphaba, one of the polish of HazeGlaze's Wicked Glitter Nail Polish Trio. This small collection is made of 3 polishes in mini format. Each polish is inspired by Hazel's (the creator of HazeGlaze) favorite musicals of all time - Wicked the Musical! I will show you the 3 polishes but I'll start with my favorite, Elphaba.

This polish is described by Hazel as follows.
Elphaba is sheer slightly green glitter bomb packed with fine green and holographic glitter, copper, emerald, light green, olive, gold and black hexagons in various sizes. So unique and beautiful just like Elphie herself.

1-2 coats of HazeGlaze Elphaba over 2 coats of Zoya Holly.

Haze Glaze Elphaba
Final verdict: I really love this polish. I think it's my favorite from the wiked glitter trio! It has a lot of different colors of green hexagon glitters but also gold ones. And some  green and gold square glitters are also present! All these glitters are suspended in a sheer green grass base. Concerning the size of the glitters, you've got tiny ones, medium but also large hex! I like the variety of sizes and the different colors of green and gold go well together! Application was nice. The glitters spread rather well on the nails. I used here 1 or 2 coats. For some nails, I used only 1 coat but for other I replaced/added larger glitters with a second coat. In conclusion, that's a really nice and interesting polish. I REALLY love the glitters! Maybe a clear base would also have been nice because the actual green base is too sheer to be worn on its own but when you layer it, you've got the sheer green coming out. For my current mani, it's no problem, but if you want to layer it over white or a light color, the green will show up. It can be nice or not...depending on your base polish.
I'd like to know your opinion, guys. Do you like sheer base colors or do you prefer glitters suspended in clear polish? I'm curious to know because I'm not sure myself what I prefer!lol

I will show you Fiero and Glinda, the two other polishes of this trio soon. So stay tuned! :D

Zoya Holly
The base color I used for this mani is Zoya Holly. Holly is part of Zoya Gems & Jewels Holiday 2011 collection and I was lucky to get it thanks to a swap I did with Traci. Holly is a deep electric green metallic polish. It has this glow-from-within touch that adds so much depth to the polish! I did 2 effortless coats but it was already near opaque after one. Application was a really dream, super easy! That's a polish I will wear a lot!

2 coat of Zoya Holly.

Ulta3 Metallic Crush Swatches

So I picked up a few of the new Ulta3 Metallic Crush collection and figured I would swatch them :) First of all I wish they had kept the name Molten Metallics, it just sounds so much better than Metallic Crush! But I guess they wanted it to be different from Face of Australia Molten Metallics collection. I didn't pick up Pinot because when I picked up the bottle it looked almost identical to Shiraz and I also didn't buy Burnt Orange because it didn't appear to be a metallic like the others in this collection.

Each of these swatches is without base/top coat. All photos are taken in artificial light.

Jade

This is two coats. Application was good. Jade is a gorgeous jade green metallic. As expected you can see the nail brush strokes but they aren't very defined so it doesn't bother me at all. I love this shade!

Copper

This is two coats. Application was good. Copper is a vivid orange metallic. This one's a stunner! The moment I put it on it reminded me of China Glaze Riveting.

Shiraz

This is two coats. Application was good. Shiraz is a brilliant red metallic. I love this one too! It looks like my nails are on fire :)

Antique Gold

Two coats. The formula on this one was slightly thick and I think that might be why the brush strokes are a bit more obvious. Overall though the formula wasn't anywhere near horrible just a bit thicker than the others from this collection. Antique Gold is a dark gold metallic. I don't have any colours like this in my collection so I like it!

Cocoa

Two coats. Application was good. Cocoa is a brown/bronze metallic. This one was another stunner. I think I only have one other bronze nail polish so I'm happy to have this one it's so pretty!

Enchanted

Two coats. Application was good. Enchanted is a dark plum purple with a gorgeous green shimmer. I saved the best until last! Enchanted is absolutely gorgeous! When I picked up the bottle there was an obvious green shimmer to the polish that I desperately hoped came through when applied to the nail AND IT DOES!  Love This!

Stamping

Copper, Antique Gold, Enchanted

I saw people asking about how this collections is for stamping. They all come out very sheer, except for cocoa, so if it's an intense look you're looking for I wouldn't recommend any of these. I tried these with different images and found that ones with small detail didn't work at all so you needed large whole images. If you're using a stamping image without fine detail and after a subtle look these will work. However, I found Cocoa came out really clearly unlike the others.

Overall

I love this collection! I was surprised to fine that the application of these was so good! I have almost no metallics in my collection so I was more than happy to pick these colours up, especially considering how cheap they are (AUD$2.25ea). I was especially happy since the formula on these was so great, except for Antique Gold. My personal favourite of these has to be Enchanted! However, I love the intensity of all the colours, they're absolutely stunning.

Misa What I Like About You Collection

Hi lovelies! Today I have Misa's What I Like About You Collection for the Fall 2010. The collection consists of six new colors that's perfect for the Fall.

Spinning Out of Control is a blurple shimmer. Leans more towards the purple side.

Quirky Smile is a teal shimmer

Like It Like That is a bright metallic grimmer shimmer with slight weak blue duochrome

It's You! is a deep gray with slight hints of green and pink duochrome

When U Say My Name is a deep brown shimmer

Perfect Kiss is a magenta shimmer. Sorry for yellowiness, as this picture was taken as the sun was about to set!

These were very well pigmented and was opaque in 2 coats. As for the formula, they were better than their usual polishes. Misa's polishes tends to be on the thick side, however these weren't as thick as they use to be. I didn't have much problems applying these.

Although the colors didn't really amaze me much, my favorites are It's You! and Quirky Smile. All the other ones didn't really catch my breath. And to be honest none of the colors are unique in anyway, except for maybe It's You!.

I didn't get the Spark My Interest collection because well... because it didn't really spark my interest! Haha sorry I just had to say that. Well that's all I have for today!

China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection

Hi all! Today I finally have the China Glaze Vintage Vixen collection to show. During my weeks of swatching there was absolutely no sun at all, therefore all pictures were taken under artificial light (which I pretty much prefer since its most color accurate)

I'm so glad to finally swatch fall collections because I'm loving all the fall colors as I'm a little "sick" of the summer colors. As we all know that's just temporary xD

On with the swatches!

Swing Baby - a silver/gold shimmer with foil finish. Very bling like

Riveter Rouge - a strong golden red shimmer

Midnight Mission - dark blue shimmer, has silver flecks

Jitterbug - a light charcoal silver foil. Has a little blue and a little purple in it. But mostly silver.

Ingrid - chocolatey taupe with silver flecks of shimmer. LOVE

Hey Doll - a bronzey brown shimmer

Goin' My Way - golden brown shimmer. A little close to bronze but more brown toned.

Foxy - a fire red bronze shimmer

First Class Ticket - dark purple shimmer. Picture shows a little more blue than purple.

Emerald Fitzgerald - a dark green/teal shimmer

Classic Camel - mustardy beige with golden shimmers. LOVE

Bogie - a sort of an eggplant purple metallic ish.

I love this collection. The colors are great for fall. And their formula was good. Some were a little leaky but not too much. My favorite is Classic Camel and Ingrid.

I'm looking forward to their 'Tis the Season to be Naughty And Nice collection. Though not much colors interest me there. I need to see more swatches before I'm convinced to buy the whole collection. Though I'm really interested in that peppermint cuticle oil. I might even buy two sets just so I can get that peppermint oil lol

Well that's all I have for today. I have a few hours to spare before I head to class, time to relax :) Enjoy your Sunday guys! And for those who have Columbus Day off, enjoy that as well!

Paint Splatters Everywhere

Hi all!

Today I have something for you that I LOVE so much that I can't make myself to take it off.

china glaze konadicure konad nailart nailswatches khrome romantique collection stamping m21 imageplate white cremeTwo coats of H&M Love At First Sight, a white creme, stamped with China Glaze Joy, Harmony, Cherish and Adore with Konad imageplate M21. The Romantiques are awesome for stamping and their contrast with the white base is great. I stamped the splatters randomly on my nails, trying to do a variety in colors on my nails.

china glaze konadicure konad nailart nailswatches khrome romantique collection stamping m21 imageplate white cremeThe Romantiques are really colorful and the combination of these with Love At First Sight makes me stare at my hands all the time. I feel a bit silly about this haha.

What do you think of this Konadicure?

Thanks for stopping by!

Essie Chinchilly

Hi all!

Today I have a NOTD for you that I did when I was in a hurry last week, so I didn't have time to cleanup. I had this polish for a while and just didn't wear it untill a couple of days ago.. Anyway, on to some pics :)

Essie ChinchillyEssie ChinchillyEssie Chinchilly, two coats with one coat of Nubar Diamont in daylight. The second picture is a little more color accurate since the first one makes Chinchilly look more washed out than the color really is.. Chinchilly is a weird color; it's no taupe, it's no grey and it's no purple, but it has something from all three. I'd say it's a khaki creme, I think. It's a really odd color and I don't like it on me. I think it's because my skin has yellow undertones and that doesn't work well with this color.

Application on this was great, no problems whatsoever. Drying time was good as well, so no complaints there, only on the color. I did a little Konad to spice things up a bit and it improved my mani a bit.

The blue chrome works pretty well with the blubbery color of Chinchilly! A closeup to show the design better:

Essie Chinchilly China Glaze Adore and Konad Konadicure imageplate M60 closeupIt's definately better than it was without Konad in my opinion, but still no winner for me :)
