Maybelline Party Blue

With all this sunshine I wanted to do a nice summery colour and I chose Maybelline Party Blue from their Mini Colorama collection. I applied one coat of Revlon Quick Dry base coat. Then I applied two thin coats of Party Blue but it probably could've used three coats. It is an especially watery nail polish and was very difficult to control. Application was quite the PITA! It's such a pity the formula is so terrible because its a beautiful colour. To maintain the intensity I used Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat. Some Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Speed Dry Drops and my manicure was ready to go in no time!

The following photo's were taken after I finished in artificial light.

Then I took some photo's in the natural light while the sun was still shining.

Party Blue is a gorgeous pastel blue creme with amazing vibrancy. It's that classic adorable blue colour. The bubbles present aren't from Party Blue but from the Mega Shine top coat. To me this colour screams spring, but the 38°C heat when I was taking the photo's kept me very aware it's summer!

Maybelline Racy Red

I wanted to paint my nails a vibrant red and was in a bit of a hurry so I chose Maybelline Racy Red from the Express Finish Collection. To begin with I applied a coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener followed by two thin coats of Racy Red. This is a great colour to grab because you only need two thin coats for it to be completely opaque. So since I was in a rush the thin coats dried really quickly and then on went a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Some Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Drops to help it dry - are you getting that I was in a hurry :)!

These photo's were taken in artificial light the night I painted my nails. Racy Red is actually a bit darker than these photo's but it didn't seem to want to photograph darker!

The following day I took these photo's in the bright sunshine and 36°C heat. I was actually worried I wouldn't get any photo's in the sunlight because we had thunderstorms that night. I've never been so happy to be wrong -lots and lots of sunshine! Racy Red takes on an almost orange coral colour in direct sunlight.

This is one of my favourite red cremes. The formula is almost perfect so application was an absolute breeze. Each coat of Racy Red dried very quickly. The express Express Finish collection claims the nail colour dries in 50 seconds and I was putting on my second coat about 2 minutes after my first. So that's Maybelline Racy Red, my go-to red for a quick manicure!

Some Maybelline, China Glaze, Dior, and ORLY Swatches

So while browsing through my "Nail Polish" folder, I realized I have a few polishes that I've swatched but never posted or did a review on them. And instead of doing each brand one by one, I've decided to just include it all in one post. I have two New Maybelline for the Fall, one old China Glaze, Dior, and two old ORLY's.

Maybelline

Grand in Green is a blackened green which is quite similar to OPI's Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow. Grand in Green is darker than HTAT (in which HTAT shows more green)

Grey-T Glamour is a gray creme with little silver flecks. I really like this one :)

Applications for both of these were good. No complaints

China Glaze

Sunset Glow is a rosey pink mauve with hints of golden shimmer. Gorgeous color but some reason dry time was a little slow

Dior

Black Sequins is a black creme with silver glitter. I got this when it was restocked at Nordstrom, I believe it is not available anymore, but don't quote me :x

Orly

Bailamos is a bright aqua shimmer

Wild Wisteria is a deep purple creme

I've always loved Orly's formulas. Perfect and flawless

Well that's all I have for today, and as a bonus, since this post is so short, November 2nd was my dog Bebe's 10th birthday. And here is a picture of her "making a wish" on her birthday cake :D

Two reader requests

Todays post is two reader requests I got lately. If you want something specific too, just let me know :) I am always happy to help my readers.

First, jaljen wanted to see Orly Luxe with some black stamping. Recently I bought the Bundle monster image plates set, so this was a great opportunity to try them out :) This is from plate MB12. I have to say, that these image plates are great. Very easy to work with, nice designs and cheap. Love them.

Next, alluring_mum wanted me to make a comparison of Maybelline Mirror Image polish with China Glaze Millenium. In the bottle these two look very simmilar, but on the nail the difference is evident. The Mirror Image really looks more like a mirror, but is hadrer to work with and doesn´t last long. If you want a really shiny silver that last, I would go for the China Glaze.

Mirror Nails

I spent the whole Sunday thinking if I should buy myself the discontinued Chanel Silver, as seen on this years spring/summer runway. First I wanted to see how my nails would look like, so I reached for Maybelline Mirror Image.

Last time I wore this polish was half a year ago. I realized that I love the way it looks and I just have to buy the Chanel :) What do you think? Should I or should I not?

A VERY GOOD WEEKEND!

Hi all, thank GOD! it is a very good Saturday morning! Yay, I won two nail art contest at the same time! I am still disbelief over my two consecutive winnings.... I'm very happy...
Here are my entries that I submitted for beautopia nail art contest, the criteria and main objective of the contest is to be creative.... So here's how I made my mani.... When I was checking out her website, I was thinking, what is the best mani I have ever made so far.... I submitted a number of entries... As for my beautopia entry, the idea came when I saw her glittery background and her profile photo which is really cool... I wanted to draw her face on my nails but when I tried it, I wasn't able to do so, it is difficult and the finished product was awful, so instead of drawing it freehand, I decided to print her picture....
Here is the step by step Procedure:

  1. Print a picture of the design of your choice. Make sure it will fit the size of your nails, then cut it ( in my ring finger I print the title of her blog).
  2. Apply your desired background/ basecoat color. I chose powder pink nail polish, 2 coats of it. Let dry.
  3. Apply adhesive / or nail art glue and place the pre-cut pictures on your nails. Make sure you put it properly in place...
  4. I applied mixed glitter nail polish on the side part without n.p
  5. And last but not the least I applied top coat..
It took some time to make it, but the finished product was awesome, and I'm pretty sure you guys will say the same thing.... God Bless you all!
